“The year we bought the Sarah Powers that we have in Private Collections -I knew Sarah was exhibiting and was anxious to see her work. She went to Alfred University with my brother and we had become friends in Rhode Island. My husband, Walker, and I arrived at the annual Collector’s Choice Gala and Sale at Green Hill Center and immediately went our separate ways getting into conversations and looking at work independently. A couple of hours later, we reconvened and asked each other what pieces we liked. Walker said there was one piece in the show that he was interested in purchasing - and he walked me over to the Sarah Powers piece and of course it was also the one piece I wanted. He had not noticed it was our friend Sarah’s work. It was sort of amazing that out of the hundreds of works in the show - we each picked the same work - and it happened to be a piece by such a good friend.”
